      A lot of people (mostly in the US) like to imagine autonomous cars as the key to living like the Jetsons or Back to the Future or something, like a fleet of autonomous cars will replace all mass transit with basically on demand travel pods you see in movies. Except even if that happens, that’s a terrible future and addresses none of the problems with transportation today.

        actual reality: Oh no my child forgot their beacon, they will be killed on their way to school.

          But that can be possible, if a buss is more efficient than private cars people will start to use them more

          If by efficient you mean faster, more comfortable, or even cheaper, you need to abandon that line of thinking when it comes to environmentalism. The entire reason we’re in this crisis with one foot in the extinction grave is because humans placed short term gains and luxuries over long term health of our society and planet.
