With thousands of species on the move as the climate changes, a growing number of scientists say that the dichotomy between native and alien species has become an outdated concept and that efforts must be made to help migrating species adapt to their new habitats.

[Biologists] “have proposed a new category called “neonatives,” which would consist of species that have moved at least 100 kilometers (or a few hundred meters in altitude) beyond their historic ranges (as established in 1950), in response to environmental changes”

This totally makes sense. Humans have irreversibly changed the earth, whether by changing the climate or providing transport for species. At a certain point we can’t fight what we set in motion and will need to do the best by the new world we have created.
