“Pedestrian-assisted activity (ex longboards) is illegal on all streets and illegal on any downtown sidewalk”. Spoiler alert: our sidewalks are frequently garbage and not suitable for longboarding if you actually want to get somewhere quickly
Asked a bylaw person at city hall and a traffic enforcement person called me and explained this. Is there anyway we can change this?
“Pedestrian-assisted activity” includes any human-powered activity such as in-line skating, roller-skating, skate-boarding, snowboarding, skiing and tobogganing, but excludes bicycles;
Pedestrian Assisted Activities:
(1) No person shall engage in any pedestrian-assisted activity on any public highway, excepting in-line skating.
21
(2) No person shall engage in any pedestrian-assisted activity on any:
(a) sidewalk in the downtown; or
(b) pedestrian mall
Catch me outside breaking the law to save the environment, my money, get exercise etc b4 i get killed by the police. Or fined by bylaw, not clear which one it’ll be but here’s how i’ll find out 🪦 (dear police, this paragraph is a meme)
@AgreeableLandscape@lemmy.ml if i remember correctly where you’re from, I checked there too. Longboarding was completely illegal in some parts of that city :(
