You probably all hate these videos that start playing once you open a certain website. I use uBlock Origin for a long time so I was used to select the element zapper and boom the video was gone. It's only recently that I wondered if I could remove this element of the website permanently with very visit. Call me an idiot but I just found out today that uBlock Origin can do that too. Instead of explaining it to you I added a link to the article that helped me. Sometimes these little tips can bring great joy and hopefully it is helpful for some of you people here.

Why did [Hales] end up hacking the BIOS on a 10 year old laptop left over from an Australian education program? When your BIOS starts telling you you’re not allowed to use a particular type of hardware, you don’t have much of a choice.

By now, the process of creating custom lithium-ion battery packs is well-known enough to be within the reach of most makers. But it’s not a path without hazard, and mistakes with battery protection and management can be costly. Happily for those who are apprehensive on the battery front there’s a solution courtesy of a group of engineering students from the University of Pittsburgh. [Their project was to convert a pedal bicycle to electric assisted power](https://hackaday.io/project/180098-diy-ebike-battery-system), and in doing so they didn’t make their own pack but instead used off-the-shelf 40V Ryobi power tool packs. The bike conversion is relatively conventional with the crank replaced by a crank and motor assembly, and a pair of the Ryobi packs in 3D-printed holders on the frame. The value in this is in its reminder that these packs have evolved to the point at which they make a viable alternative to a much more expensive bike-specific pack, and that their inclusion of all the balancing and protection circuitry make them also a much safer option than building your own pack. The benefits of this are immense as they bring a good-quality conversion within reach of many more bicycle owners, with all parts being only a simple online order away. Take a look at the video below the break for more details. Those Ryobi cells [certainly seem to have carved themselves a niche](https://hackaday.com/2020/02/20/diy-power-station-puts-ryobi-batteries-to-work/) in our community! best grandson makes machine to pair up telegram messaging with a grandmother-friendly physical interface
Meeting people where they are with technology is so important, and I love that this lets the grandchildren message from their phones as is presumably convenient for them.

I really love how creative people are when it comes to enclosing their RPis, but I'll probably end up just sticking it in cardboard!

I've been thinking about building a structures with pvc pipes but before buying the materials i want to plan it. The things that i know: -It doesn't concern liquid transportation -I am not going to use pipe connectors (i can mold them) -I have ways to bend the pipes. Any suggestions? thanks

The Faraday cage (or shield), named after Michael Faraday, is a device that is used to protect from electromagnetic radiation. A Faraday cage may be formed by a continuous covering of conductive material, or a mesh of such materials. This creates a shielding effect for any item inside the cage and protects those items from radiation. The effects of the cage can be enhanced by layering conductive and non-conductive layers - this creates a cage within a cage within a cage, providing additional protection without the need of specialised materials. Though it may sound complicated, you can make your own Faraday cage from aluminum foil. You can also make a larger version using a steel trash can.

This is very interesting! I love the smell of incense but my current space is really too small for it because I do notice an air quality decline. Really what I love most is the scent of it that clings to everything; I need to work out some kind of smoker for a coat closet...

e-ink display of what a radio station is currently playing
What a cute project! Being able to see what's now playing on an Amazon listening device that has a screen is one of the very few uses of said listening device's screen in my household... her version seems particularly nice because it's got embellishment with personality. I wonder what similar projects might be fun. Remote controlled flameless candles that light when a group chat is active...

It's a great post but phew does it have me depressed about mending as a judgy ethos[^1]. My clothes give out in the upper thighs and the armpits. I'm pretty sure my body shape is implicated in ways I don't want to call attention to. But no, tiny pretty 22-year-old, please tell me how your cute elbow patches confer moral superiority over replaced garments... Anyway, I still love #mending #content about covering stains and such so I will continue to subject myself to this depression. [^1]: This particular blogger is probably innocent; I'm really thinking of Instagram.
