interestingly, the youtube app on my phone doesn’t have ads at all (as of recently), most likely because companies don’t want to advertise in russia, but youtube still doesn’t want to pull out, because of potential future revenue (after the war ends), and they can still sell user data 😎

not very weird most likely, considering that there are significantly fewer ads and they’re much shorter in length than videos, therefore it makes sense to cache them in some way 🤷‍♀️

i’d assume yes, maybe they’re not called transportation planning meetings, but all cities, no matter the size and presence of public transportation, build and repair stuff, and there’s likely a department for that, which may organise such meetings

depends on the openness and democratic nature of the country of course, but still, i’d say many cities should have something like this

start by going to your city’s transportation planning meetings, vote for ppl who promise positive reforms if there are some, talk to ppl you know about car-centric urbanism, bc many don’t realise it’s there (or as NJB appropriately calls it “orange pill”), don’t own a car yourself

essentially the comment/post to which this is posted as a reply is extremely based

reddit largely owes its success to digg’s failings, nothing wrong with that user acquisition approach imo 🤷‍♀️

be the change you want to see :)

(i’ll also try to be the change i want to see)

well, yes, among my interests technology also has a place

because lemmy is more technology-focused, the technology-related communities happen to be more active and therefore worth to post to, whereas other communities that align with my interests are rather empty…

i try to post different content to lemmy, and it happens that some of it is technology-related :)

there is a fundamental misunderstanding of abortions: women don’t just forget to get an abortion, so i’d argue that the upper time boundary for abortion debate doesn’t make a lot of sense in the first place, just leave it to the women and accompanying medical professional to decide 🤷‍♀️

but also, why would you even want such a system? like, there’s no reason to save any and all unborn humans, because they can’t feel or think, so they literally don’t care; many ppl at birth will have terrible diseases or disabilities, which would bring suffering upon both the person themselves and their parents, and there’s no benefit to this, no matter the way you look at it

the system you propose is not only has dubious viability, but even if it didn’t, it would create enormous potential for abuse, because capitalism really needs an ever increasing number of low-wage workers, and they don’t care what kind of hardships, troubles, disabilities they will end up with, and more workers very often leads to worse working condition (and vice versa: less workers -> better working conditions)

sorry if this sounds harsh, it’s just that i think that such a system would be really dangerous to virtually everyone involved

in the summer i like to go to the local lake or river, saves 100 % of the water 🤷‍♀️

awesome 😎

makes me sad that russia has been stifled by corruption and mismanagement for the last 3 decades, with further and further diminishing budgets for education and ever increasing military budgets, makes me think what cool things we could have done…

western designers inventing worse versions of commie blocks in 2022 🤷‍♀️

Is lemmy slightly broken on safari for anyone?
yeah, i know, safari is kind of a hit or miss in terms of implemented standards, and it also only works on macos, so it's doubly difficult to test, but still, i wonder whether it's just smth with my config or do other ppl also have some issues?
